Dr. Jennifer Imig Huffman is an Illinois Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Board Certified Pediatric Neuropsychologist who specializes in Developmental Neuropsychology.
Dr. Huffman graduated with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She attended graduate school at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in the Clinical Psychology/Neuropsychology specialty program where she obtained her PhD. Dr. Huffman completed a Pediatric Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare’s Evaluation Center for Learning. She completed a second Adult and Geriatric Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at Zablocki’s VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI. Dr. Huffman was hired directly from her VA fellowship as staff Neuropsychologist for the Milwaukee VAMC.
Dr. Huffman has been trained extensively in the evaluation and intervention of neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism; Asperger's; Learning Disabilities; Tourette's and Tic Disorders; ADHD; Anxiety, Depression, and OCD; Concussion and TBI; Sensory Processing; and Giftedness.
During her training and career, Dr. Huffman has worked extensively in the intervention and evaluation of children with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. She has experience from all aspects of children and adults with autism spectrum. She was trained as an ABA in-line therapist in graduate school and subsequently as an ABA master’s therapist and evaluation consultant. She has continued to specialize in evaluations and consultation for children, adolescents, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Asperger’s, as well as related neurodevelopmental conditions, since that time. She also has a child with a neurodevelopmental condition and understands the unique challenges and hard-earned successes parent’s face when they have a child with special needs.
Dr. Huffman believes strongly in the importance of integrating home and school information to support the well-being of the child. She has over 20 years of experience in providing and interpreting the results of neuropsychological evaluations and supporting the needs of the child through participation in IEP and Section 504 meetings. She has also been hired by school districts and attorneys as an independent evaluator and consultant for neuropsychological evaluations of complex academic issues.
Dr. Huffman was honored to be the Lead Clinician for the Polytrauma/Traumatic Brain Injury clinic at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center where she spent several years as a neuropsychologist and rehabilitation team member for returning soldiers.
During her training and career, she has taught extensively at the undergraduate and graduate level, including Research Design; Undergraduate and Graduate Statistics; Pediatric Neuropsychology; Health Psychology; and Introduction to Psychology.
Originally from Champaign, IL, Dr. Huffman and her husband relocated to the Bloomington area in 2009. In 2011, Dr. Huffman founded the Neuropsychology Center for Attention, Behavior & Learning, a private practice that was nicknamed, The ABLE Center. She and her husband have three children.
